Alopecia is the scientific term of hair loss. It refers to the condition of the scalp that is not fully covered with hair, due to premature hair loss. Genetic alopecia occurs when there is a genetic disposition of loosing hair. Usually hair loss patients follow their ancestor’s type of baldness. Some studies show that there is a genetic inheritance which comes 60% from the mother’s side and 40% from the father’s side.
Alopecia can be treated in various ways depending on its causes. Genetic alopecia is treated mainly by the use of minoxidil and finasteride. Alopecia due to nutritional deficiencies is treated by initially contacting a specialized blood test and then according to the findings, recommend the right treatment.
